We do not review every item sent to us, but we are eclectic in what we are interested in reviewing. If you are unsure about whether your work is appropriate for us, please contact me (lisa _at_facingnorth.net, with appropriate edits to foil the spambots) and we'll talk it over. We are an all-volunteer group that changes size with our availability. In 2009, for example, my group grew quite small as life events took precedence (we had a cancer dfiagnosis, an upcoming marriage, a completion of a PhD, and a return to graduate school). It is one reason we are always looking for reviewers (I always have a stack of items for reivew. Always). Because we are volunteers, I can not guarantee that every item will be reviewed, or that it will be reviewed within a specific timeframe. This may be from a lack of interest, a lack of time, or even a backlog of older items that need to be dealt with first. If it is important for you to get a review within a specific timeframe, or before a specific event, let me know. As an author myself, I have an especial fondness for independent, self-published, and small-press authors; I will do my darndest to get their work reviewed. That said, it is still not a guarantee of a review. To get your work reviewed, send a hardcopy to: Lisa Mc Sherry, Facing North, 325 Washington Ave S, #272, Kent, WA 98032. Hardcopies are preferred, but in some cases a softcopy may be best. In which case, send it to lisa _at_facingnorth.net (with appropriate edits to foil the spambots) and I will send it along to my reviewer. When a review is published, we always notify the publisher (via their publicity department) and do our best to notify the author as well, if we have contact information. All published items are cpoyright free and may be reprinted or linked to -- we ask only that the source be retained (i.e., first published at FacingNorth.net [with link]). We also publish articles and interviews, as long as they aren't blatant self-promotional pieces. These are far easier to publish in a timely manner and I'm happy to do so. |
