Interest in Mayan astrological methods grew out of the ceremonies organized by Jose Arguelles for the 1987 Harmonic Convergence and the end of the Long Count calendar in 2010. Other astrologers involved in Mayan astrology include Bruce Scofield, Abby Isadora Haydon, Barbara Hand Clow, Arielle Gutman, Adam Gainsburg, and Aluna Joy Yax'kin. Some of the material in the book is channeled from a unified guiding group of Pleiadian beings called Laarkmaa. The emphasis is on the evolution of humanity through the activation of dormant strands of DNA that will make nonphysical energies and dimensions accessible to humanity.

Mayan astrology and the well-known Long Count calendar are based on the unique relationship between Venus and the Earth as they orbit around the Sun. There's a substantial discussion of the peculiarities of Venus's 1,250-year orbital cycle. The authors distinguish five points in a single star-shaped Venus cycle. There's also discussions of vortex points, shadow cycles, and the thirteen universal and twenty earth energies that are activated during these cycles.

The bulk of the text presents detailed descriptions of the universal and earth cycles (pp 60 – 142). These are followed by chapters on how these energies relate to personality and relationships. Appendix A gives a table of Vortex Days (2018 – 2033), Appendix B gives a table of Shadow Cycles (2018-2033) and Appendix C is a Pleiadian-Earth Energy Ephemeris (1975-2030). Extended ephemerides are available through an online address provided in the text. End matter includes endnotes, a bibliography, and index.

Readers would benefit by prefacing this material with Scofield's books for a concise overview of the Mayan day signs and methodology (How to Practice Mayan Astrology [2006] and Day-Signs: Native American Astrology From Ancient Mexico [1997]). It's challenging to merge a unique cultural astrology with mainstream astrological techniques. Interpretive methods provided in this book are of greater value when they can be applied seamlessly within a coherent all-Mayan astrological system.
