Through quotes, independent research and translations, verifiable sources and quite simply good and understandable writing Patricia M. Lafayllve gives her readers a good, modern introduction to Asatru and Heathenry in her book A Practical Heathen's Guide to Asatru.  Lafayllve writes this book in a way that lets readers take non modern beliefs and work them into their more contemporary life.

Lafayllve organizes the book very well, beginning with introductory chapters including a pronunciation guide.  She uses quotations from not only the Eddas and Icelandic sagas but also from other historical books and writings which really helps one not only understand what is behind these beliefs but also lends credibility to the book.  Other chapters included are; innangardh vs utengardh, landvaettir and other wights and ethics.  Lafayllve also includes an index, resource list, glossary and meditations and exercises at the end of the chapters.

All in all I love this book.  It's well researched, well written and easily understandable.  Anyone who has an interest in Asatru and/or Heathenism would be well served to read this book.  Highly, highly recommended.
