I admit, I was a bit wary when I first saw the title of this book. It brought to mind the endless charts and tables of correspondences that strike fear in the hearts of so many of us. However, since I have enjoyed Ellen Dugan’s other writings, I decided to give it a chance. I am so glad I did. This book has been a source of such incredible inspiration for me.
As stated on the first page,”Magic isn’t limited only to the Sabbats and to the occasional full moon; magic happens twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.” This is something many of us seem to forget. Each day has its own incredible, unique energy we can tap into enhancing our own spellwork, so why waste it!
The book is divided into seven chapters – one for each day of the week. For each, the author includes an at-a-glance correspondence page, daily magical applications, deities, several magical plants and flowers, colors, candles, crystals, tarot cards, and an assortment of appropriate spells. Included in the back of the book is a handy worksheet for recording your new spells.
7 Days of Magic is very easy to read and understand. It is ideal for those who are new to the Craft and still learning how to put everything together, yet it will also be beneficial for those with more experience who are seeking a good reference or a new way of looking at daily magic. This book is also an excellent resource for those who are feeling “burned-out” and need something to bring inspiration back to their practice. There is a wide enough selection of information within these covers that everyone should find something useful and valuable towards the crafting of their own personalized spells.
