Ostara: Rituals, Recipes & Lore for the Spring Equinox is a lovely little book, the first in Llewellyn's Sabbat Essentials series. Kerri Connor has done a wonderful job of putting together interesting information about this holiday, weaving it together with old and new ways of celebrating.

With chapters on spells and divination ideas, recipes and crafts, prayers and invocations, rituals for celebrations, and correspondences, this book truly is a great effort at collecting all you need to know about Ostara all in one place. The illustrations are lovely, an added bonus.

Ideas include: kite flying, blessing seeds, and finger painting. You might try an egg divination spell, or a new tarot spread. Perhaps bake a Honey Cake or make up a Raw Asparagus and Avocado Soup? (For the record, while I can't speak to the finger painting, and the seeds haven't bloomed yet, the cake and soup were both really delicious.)

This was a great start to a new series, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the handy guides.
