Amma is Mother, the Hugging Saint, Mother of Compassion, Mother of Immortal Bliss, and Mata Amritanandamay. Amma is a young Indian holy woman who’s first sound is said to have been a laugh. In the all-to-brief biographical introduction, we are told by Ms. Canan of Mata Amritanandamayi’s experience with the Divine Mother and her life of compassion and charitable works throughout the world.
This small book offers encouragement, prayers, proverbs and quotes in plain simple messages to uplift the spirit and guide one to a spiritual life. Regardless of gender, age, cultural or spiritual background most readers will find a gem nestled among the pages. I’m generally not a fan of books that print a few lines on a page in oversized font leaving mostly white space, but this book is of a fine quality and suitable as a gift for almost anyone on your list.
