The Magic of Nature encourages us to shut off our computers, set our phones to vibrate and to go outside and embrace the beauty and majesty of nature. Filled with rituals, meditations and spells to deeply connect the seeker to the Earth and all that is in it, this book is a perfect spiritual reset.

All of these meditations, spells and rituals are simple and easy to do. The spring breeze meditation is simply sitting in a garden and spending time to connect with your environment as gentle breezes flow through the garden. It is an effortless practice and very relaxing.

There are numerous gardening techniques Baumgartner uses to help us improve our mental and spiritual health. Urban gardening, patio gardening, as well as rural victory type gardens, complete with rituals and spells are included.

For the more adventurous, activities such as hiking, swimming and camping are discussed at length. The author advises us to begin slowly, walking simple and easy trails, or swimming in an a pool before tackling anything more advanced. There are meditations, spells and rituals for these as well. For the naturalists among us, noting plants such as herbs and flowers and wildlife, during the hike creates a deeper connection with nature as well.

This is a book that revives the love of nature and being outdoors that I enjoyed growing up in rural North East Texas. To experience the leap from a barge into a cold lake on a hot summer afternoon, to hiking or riding horseback provides a deep intimate connection with the earth that bore us. No computer simulation can compare to it.
