Celtic Hedge Witchery: A Modern Approach is a truly wonderful book, one of the best I've read this year.
Morris directly address the issues around the term 'Celtic.' As a person of Eastern European and Irish descent, my family would have been Celtic. The Celtic heritage encompasses a wide geographical and societal area. They merged and were assimilated into different cultures; what we know of them is rarely direct.
As someone who doesn't get out into the trees very much, I appreciated Woods' embrace of hedge witchery as being more than living in the woods. Morris advocates learning as much as you can while respecting the original teachings. At the same time, use science and modern-day advanced knowledge to deepen and enhance the ancient knowledge.
I was intrigued by the idea that fire was never included in Celtic worship because it's not a realm of existence. They consider it a transitional element that has no place, unlike, land, sky, and sea.
Elegantly and warmly written, Celtic Hedge Witchery includes an extensive bibliography and suggested reading section. I found every page interesting and was so very glad it came my way.
Highly recommended!
